Abstract

Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) poses a significant threat to global health, with mortality rates ranging from 50% to 90% during outbreaks. Identified initially in 1976 near the Ebola River in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo, EVD has periodically led to severe outbreaks. The recent epidemic in West Africa, notably affecting Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, underscores the urgent need for robust health infrastructure and international collaboration to address such pandemics. This study delves into the outbreak's dynamics and countermeasures in these countries, aiming to shed light on enhancing global health responses to EVD and similar health emergencies. Through this analysis, we seek to contribute to the development of policies and strategies for more effective management of infectious disease outbreaks.
