Abstract

This paper describes a composite projection configuration which simultaneously exhibits dimensionally identical 2 virtual content displaying areas in the field of view where each area has a different resolution. The composite projection configuration consists of a large video display with a resolution of 4R units, 4 identical convex lens stacks, 4 cyclically arranged identical beam splitters and 4 cyclically arranged small video displays where each small display has a resolution of 4R units. The composite projection configuration will have the capability to simultaneously project 2 content displaying areas into the field of view of the user of the composite projection configuration. In this projection scenario, the 2 content displaying areas which are 2 square shaped areas, will be dimensionally equivalent in shape and size. And in this projection scenario, the 2 centers of the 2 square shaped content displaying areas will coincide with each other. In addition to that, the 2 centers of the 2 square shaped content displaying areas will coincide with the center of the field of view of the user which will be determined relative to the orientation of the head of the user. Furthermore, one content displaying area which will be projected utilizing the large video display with a resolution of 4R units, will have a comparatively lesser resolution. And the other content displaying area which will be projected utilizing the formation of the 4 cyclically arranged small video displays where each small display has a resolution of 4R units, will have a comparatively greater resolution.
