Abstract
The context of this disclosure is a designer selling copies of their work to customers through a seller platform. The main challenges addressed by this disclosure are the following:
- as a copy buyer/copy owner, how to verify that a copy was issued by a specific designer?
- as a copy buyer/copy owner, how to verify how many copies exist for a specific design?
- as a designer, how to verify that no copy was produced without their knowledge?
This disclosure introduces a hash tree structure keeping track of copies and their lifecycle for a specific designer. This hash tree is maintained and verified by both the designer and a publishing, printing, or selling company, ensuring that the trust is more distributed, and that no single entity can manipulate the truth. Publicly available verification tools allow end users to verify the information present in the tree and have more confidence about its content.
