Abstract
Techniques described herein provide for models for industrial networks that support the concepts of sub-zones and sub-conduits. The models formalize sub-zones and sub-conduits and define a hierarchy for the sub-zones and sub-conduits. The models include well-defined rules for the creation of sub-zones and placement of assets into the sub-zones based on the hierarchy structure and the creation of sub-conduits between zones and sub-zones with a hierarchical set of communication restrictions based on ancestor conduits.
