Abstract

The present disclosure relates to dynamic range adaptive measurements in optical line systems. In particular, this includes equipment and techniques to enable measurements in optical line systems of very low noise signals, e.g., down to -40dBm/12.5GHz or less, to measure very low and high Optical Signal Noise Ratio (OSNR), high precision calibration, and the like. This approach is in-skin (embedded with the optical line system) as well as operationally simple.
