Abstract
As ever greater numbers of battery-operated wireless devices are deployed, particularly in Internet of things (IoT) environments, the need to remotely charge those devices over a wireless technology grows enormously. Techniques are presented herein that support a novel method through which such devices may negotiate their charging capabilities using standards-based 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) fifth-generation (5G) network signaling and then harvest the needed charging frames, while positioning the 5G core network as a harvesting orchestrator.
