Abstract

Introduction of an intelligent and real-time procedure at Equipment Identity register (EIR) network function, to forcefully withdraw active registrations of device or a specific slice as soon as the equipment status of a registered device or its supported slice is updated as prohibited or blacklisted.

The EIR function controls the devices that can connect to the network, as network elements are expected to query at the time of registration to check equipment status. 5G is no different than legacy networks in terms of EIR usage but 5G brings the concept of network slices most importantly whenever there is a change in the equipment status, the network should react immediately and not wait for subsequent request from the consumers to stop prohibited or stolen devices availing services.
