Abstract
The present disclosure provides a system and method for an automated, secure and reliable distress alerting system using which a user can alert their family/emergency contacts about their location and call for help. The proposed system uses a network to make available a facility/feature where the individual can tap a virtual card or a physical card on an electronic device (e.g., a Point of Sale (POS) device) such that the network identifies and differentiate this tap from a regular card transaction and route the request to a special section of the network where user has created an emergency contact. This way the network informs the emergency contact about the user’s whereabouts.
