Abstract
An electrochromic device comprising first and second electrodes and first and second conductive polymer layers is provided. The first polymer layer is disposed on the first electrode, between the electrodes. The first polymer layer is a polymer of a first monomer and has a first absorption spectra when a voltage between the electrodes is in a first voltage range, but is transparent when the voltage is in a second voltage range. The second layer is disposed on the first layer, and is a polymer of a second monomer, other than the first monomer. The second layer has a second absorption spectra that is additive with respect to the first absorption spectra when a voltage between the electrodes is in the first voltage range but is transparent when the voltage is in the second voltage range. A transparent electrolyte is disposed between the second polymer layer and the second electrode.
