Abstract

The description fields of networking resources within cloud services are optional, and, as such, developers often leave description fields empty. Description fields can be important when the cloud service faces an outage or malfunction. An empty or out-of-date description field is of little use to personnel trying to determine whether the resource under consideration is a cause of the malfunction. This disclosure describes the use of generative artificial intelligence to automatically generate description fields for cloud resources leveraging aspects of the integration of a network resource with other components in a cloud service. Detailed descriptions and descriptive names can be generated using large language models via prompt engineering. The automatically generated resource descriptions can also be used in visualizing resource usage, e.g., by using descriptions to develop flow diagrams or equivalent visual representations.
