Abstract
Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to context-based fast motion estimation and mode decision methods in video encoding. For fast mode decision in code encoding, current depth prediction and early termination methods do not consider the statistics change between blocks and between frames, and may fail for scene change and need refreshment periodically. For fast motion estimation, current sub-sampling methods do not consider the statistics of the block. In addition, the current video encoding motion estimation and mode decision algorithms are too complex and consume too much power. Some implementations described herein reduce the computational complexity and save power.
