Abstract

The USB-C PD3.1 EPR mode supports up to 48V/5A power supply. During the USB-C cable withdrawal, the VBUS pin contact impedance(R) between plug and receptacle will become much higher due to unstable/poor contact. It will cause high power (P= I^2*R) dissipates on the VBUS pins result in excessive heating. The excessive heating may cause the VBUS pin damage after a couple of times cable withdrawal.
