Abstract

Buck (step down) Regulator is a very common power design in existing computing PC, it consists by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controller, Gate Driver and Power Stage. (Refer Fig. 1) there are high-side MOSFET and low-side MOSFET in power stage so dual N-Channel Gate Drivers is need to a buck regulator (Refer Fig. 2). N-Channel Gate Drivers is a very important component in the Buck regulator circuitry, it drives N-Channel MOSFETs following PWM signal which comes from PWM Controller. Gate Driver driving capability and gate resistance dominate Buck regulator switching loss and voltage regulation. Switching loss is very critical at light load condition to a buck regulator.
