Abstract
Methods, systems, and apparatuses for creating optics for virtual reality or augmented reality. A 3D printing device may include a drum base (e.g., comprising a lateral surface about a horizontal axis bounded by two base surfaces), a fixture attached to the lateral surface of the drum base, and a print head substantially perpendicular to the lateral surface of the drum base. A processor may effectuate operations that include determining a rotation speed of the drum base around the horizontal axis of the drum base and determining delivery, by the print head to the fixture, of a first substrate forming a first layer of an optical component (e.g., an optical component of a head-mounted display).
