Abstract
This disclosure describes techniques to use fiber optic cables to detect stress in underground structures. The data can be used to determine locations where geothermal power plants can be placed and the wells of such power plants may be routed. Suitable locations for geothermal wells can be determined using machine learning models that are trained based on data including data obtained from fiber optic cables that sense seismic waves in the ground to determine deep earth imaging of ground structures. The trained model can output well locations for geothermal wells that may have increased lifespans and heat production efficiency.
