Abstract
When watching video content via a web browser, it is difficult for users to save or share a specific short segment within the video since there is no mechanism for directly copying a specific clip within a video to the clipboard. Using workarounds to indirectly capture the desired short clip precisely is cumbersome and inconvenient. This disclosure describes techniques that enable users to copy a short clip from video content played in a browser or other video viewing application as a video file to the clipboard via a single command provided via a suitable, commonly-known user interface (UI) mechanism. Any applications with access to the clipboard can subsequently access the saved clip, enabling users to use and share it elsewhere.
