Abstract
This disclosure describes a stylus designed to mitigate unintended effects of a user’s touch of a touchscreen display while writing with the stylus. The stylus includes a signal transmitter that is triggered by user touch. When a user holds the stylus, a signal is transmitted from the stylus and is detected by the touchscreen device. In response to receipt of the signal, the touchscreen device is automatically configured to ignore touch input from the user’s hand while continuing to recognize input from the stylus. Optionally, the signal can be transmitted only when the stylus is held in a writing position, as detected using an accelerometer that senses the orientation of the stylus. This enables the user to hold the stylus while providing touch input using their hand.
