Abstract
Currently, the PageWide XL Pro family of printers feature a variable PRS architecture that allows adjusting the pen to paper distance with precision to meet image quality requirements. Such variable PRS is comprised by 4 motors that simultaneously operate to move the whole print zone up or down, as needed. In this disclosure, it is presented a safety mechanism that prevents users from accessing the print zone while the PRS is being adjusted, avoiding any potential physical damage that could be caused.
