Abstract

In current implementations of Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) mobile core networks, there is no way to select a Session Management Function (SMF) based on N1 session management message parameters. This can lead to complex configuration issues for a mobile network operator in some scenarios and may also cause call drops in some scenarios. Presented herein are various techniques that provide for the ability to manage this issue with minimal impacts to mobile core network functions (NFs).
