Abstract

During the printing of a job in a MJF 3D printer, a thin layer of dust is deposited inside the print zone.

This dust must be removed before starting a new job to get 3D parts of good quality and to avoid

breakdowns. As the print zone is a hot area, when the job is finished the operator must disconnect the

printer, wait until the temperature lowers to a safe level, manually clean the print zone, power up the

printer and wait the warming up to the working temperature.

In order to reduce the waiting time and to save energy, an automatic cleaning system has been designed

that allows the printer to clean itself at hot temperature.
