Abstract
World-locked augmented reality (AR) is a type of AR in which virtual objects are placed with reference to real objects, e.g., in a coordinate system anchored to real objects. World-locked AR is generally more realistic than other types of AR. However, the adoption of world-locked AR is hindered due to the lack of an ergonomic way of experiencing world-locked AR. This disclosure describes a mobile device with a camera configuration that enables a user to experience world-locked AR while holding the phone at a natural angle, e.g., 15-to-30 degrees to the horizontal plane.
