Abstract
A technique is proposed herein for enabling a long-running or multi-round operation to change a network-relevant execution parameter after the operation has begun. When accepted continuation input changes a canonical, network-exposed parameter, the technique updates the parameter and obtains a fresh routing or policy decision for the continuation. Previously computed state is evaluated against the changed execution context, and only state that remains valid is preserved for reuse. The same logical operation can thereby resume under the revised context without relying on stale routing or policy assumptions and without unnecessarily restarting all prior computation.
