Abstract
The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method for managing software in an enterprise computing environment. A natural language query describing a software need is received from a client device. Search operations are concurrently initiated against a software catalog, comprising a lexical match operation applied to a text index representation of catalog entries, an approximate string match operation applied to a name attribute of the entries, and a vector similarity operation applied to embedding representations of the entries. Over a persistent event stream to the client device, a partial result set of each search operation is transmitted as that search operation completes and before a remaining search operation completes. Catalog identifiers of an earlier completing search operation are excluded from the partial result set of a later completing search operation without deferring transmission. Responsive to the search operations collectively returning zero results, a generative language model having an external resource retrieval tool is invoked, and a structured record generated thereby is transmitted over the persistent event stream, identifying software corresponding to the query and classifying the software into a software type category.
