Abstract

A browser manages tabs associated with a research task by analyzing relationships created when tabs open from other tabs and by analyzing page content to identify semantically related groups. The browser analyzes tab activity to identify portions of the research that may be complete or abandoned and can prompt a user to close remaining tabs associated with those portions. Before closing tabs, the browser can generate a structured record that identifies a research goal, findings, discarded research paths, and selected source pages. The browser can later provide the structured record when the research resumes. In some cases, the browser performs relationship analysis, semantic grouping, state detection, and record generation on a user device.
