Abstract

This disclosure describes a conformance mark for a physical space, such as a home, an office, a shop or a public building, in which ambient AI devices and agents operate. Instead of certifying devices one by one, the mark certifies the space as a whole: every ambient AI device and agent admitted to it, the space's governance hub, its house rules and its single stop. The mark is live. The hub continuously reports the attested conformance of every admitted device, the result of its own self-tests and any open incident to the certification body, which issues a short-lived signed status for the space. When any element falls out of conformance, or the hub stops reporting, the status is not renewed and the mark lapses automatically. The mark is shown at each entrance on a sign carrying a short-range tag and a code. Any visitor's phone can read it, check the signed status and its freshness, and confirm through a challenge answered by the hub over short-range radio that the sign belongs to the genuine hub of the space where the visitor stands, so that a copied sign cannot vouch for another space. The phone then shows, in plain language, what the space senses and where, what it keeps and for how long, whether guest mode is on, how to say "forget that", and where the stop is, and offers to send the visitor's privacy signal to the space. Field checks by test visitors with signalling rigs feed the status, and a public registry lists conformant public spaces.
