Abstract

User interfaces on external displays can be static, which may lead to suboptimal viewing experiences at varying distances, while some dynamic solutions can have limitations. Systems and methods are described that use a camera on a head-mounted device (HMD) to determine a user's spatial relationship to an external display. The HMD may capture video of the display, calculate the user's distance and viewing angle based on the display's appearance in the camera's view, and transmit this data wirelessly to the display. In response, the external display can dynamically adjust its user interface, for example, by modifying element sizes and information density to improve legibility and usability based on the user's current viewing position and orientation.
