Abstract
This disclosure specifies a closed-loop respiratory biofeedback system: a chest-worn wearable respiration sensor (respiratory inductance plethysmography, with inertial and acoustic alternatives) streams breathing rate, depth and rhythm, in privacy-preserving form, to an AI meditation-guidance agent, which returns adaptive audio guidance to the wearer in real time. The device also renders the breath visibly, as ambient light modulated to the breathing cycle, so the practitioner receives continuous external feedback and the guidance agent receives a live physiological signal rather than self-report.
Three aspects are disclosed as prior art: (I) the integrated closed loop — sensor, on-device processing, guidance agent grounded in a fixed canonical text corpus (the Pāli canon's breath-meditation instructions), and adaptive guidance — as one specification; (II) a live respiratory signature used as a continuous-liveness signal for proof of personhood, complementing moment-of-action passkey (FIDO2/WebAuthn) verification; and (III) the architecture as a population-scale delivery path for guided breath meditation.
Privacy is specified before first use: on-device processing where possible, differential privacy, federated computation, and cryptographic erasure as the right to withdraw. Possible clinical applications are named only as fields of use requiring clinical validation and oversight; no efficacy or health outcome is claimed. A doctrinal guardrail is stated: the system may raise the likelihood of sustained practice but is never presented as guaranteeing its fruits. Adversarial cases, reference implementation patterns and limitations are included.
