Abstract

We specify a QR- or NFC-addressed physical gift label that replaces a handwritten gift tag with a scanned, time-locked reveal: the sender, recipient and message fields are each independently sealed and released at a chosen date or occasion. Scanned before that moment, a web page shows the structure of the gift (which sealed fields exist, with a countdown) but not their content; re-scanning the label at or after the moment unlocks the fields without an app install. Beside the message, the label carries a pledge of the giver's own time to the recipient, rendered as an offer of presence with no balance, expiry, redemption or enforcement on the label. The pledged quantity is set by an automated agent from a published occasion-by-relationship table, never from personal or behavioural data, and the sender cannot set or override it, so the number cannot signal the giver's generosity. We also specify a reply channel through which the recipient returns text, photo, video or voice thanks that notify the sender; voice-first composition with optional machine transcription, for senders who do not type or whose script is hard to type (e.g. Khmer); possession-scoped access, readable by the holder and not search-indexed, with a free public-only sticker tier and a paid engraved-wood tier adding an identity-gated private message (B-Stamp™ and B-Seal™); sender anonymity independent of message visibility; and a bare configuration, the label given alone with the time pledge as the gift, whose opened state persists across repeated scans and never notifies the giver.
