Abstract
A rack deployment sled (RDS) aggregates multiple information technology (IT), networking, and power racks onto a single structural base to form a shippable unit. The sled incorporates an integrated dynamic isolation system, using components such as wire rope isolators, to protect the combined payload during transport without separate shock-absorbing pallets. This design allows for inter-rack cabling, connections to liquid cooling manifolds, and system validation to be completed upstream before the unit arrives at a data center. A two-stage methodology handles movement, where standard material handling equipment delivers the sled to the server row, and integrated low-profile mechanisms like pneumatic air casters or powered skates provide precise, omnidirectional lateral movement for final placement. By shifting integration and testing tasks away from the data center floor, this system reduces on-site labor and shortens deployment cycle times.
