Abstract
A surface-inspection system is described that acquires position-referenced measurements as it moves across a target surface, calculates local quality information while the measurements are acquired, and deposits localized markings at the corresponding physical positions. A controller combines coordinate and measurement data to maintain a surface map, applies selected acceptance criteria to local regions of that map, and generates marking instructions for a printer or other marking assembly. The markings may include numeric values, pass or fail symbols, contour lines, corrective-action regions, or machine-readable codes that identify the local data. The result is a persistent, surface-anchored quality record that can be used directly where corrective work is performed.
