Abstract

This invention introduces a mechanical fool-proofing system for printer paper loading that improves user experience and reduces paper feed failures caused by incorrect width guide positioning. The system integrates a blocking feature into the movable width adjuster and a corresponding guide slot within the input tray. When the width adjuster is correctly aligned with the selected media size, paper can be fully loaded and printing proceeds normally. When the adjuster is incorrectly positioned, the blocking feature interferes with the paper loading path, preventing full media insertion and providing immediate visual and mechanical feedback to the user. Unlike conventional solutions that rely on sensors or software notifications, this design delivers intuitive user guidance through a purely mechanical mechanism. The invention helps prevent user loading errors, reduces media pickup and feeding failures, minimizes customer support inquiries, and enhances overall printer usability while maintaining low implementation cost and compatibility with a wide range of printer platforms.
