Abstract

This disclosure describes a way for smartphones and other mobile devices to speed up how fast smart assistants and artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots start responding. Normally, starting a new internet connection over 5G or 6G networks causes a short delay. To avoid this delay, as a mobile computing device usually maintains a connection with a cloud infrastructure, such as for push notification services, a computing system may leverage the described techniques of this disclosure. The described techniques may use that existing connection as an initial pathway for data associated with an artificial intelligence session. Using the existing connection allows the artificial intelligence session to begin before a separate connection with the artificial intelligence service is established, which greatly accelerates the initial response time. The computing device may transmit data associated with the artificial intelligence session over the existing connection, while concurrently establishing the separate connection with the artificial intelligence service in the background. After establishing the separate connection, the computing device may transition the artificial intelligence session to the separate connection by transmitting a transition message over the existing connection. The computing device may also coordinate check-ins (or heartbeat signals) for the separate connection with check-ins for the existing connection, thus limiting additional power consumption and battery drain associated with maintaining the separate connection.
