Abstract

An orientation-dependent control system for floor-facing optical modules in a mobile ground vehicle is described. An orientation sensor supplies pitch and roll, or equivalent gravity-vector information, to a controller. If the vehicle remains outside a permitted orientation for a validation period, the controller disables, disconnects, or reduces optical emission. Normal operation is restored after the vehicle returns to a permitted orientation for a recovery period. The arrangement reduces unintended direct exposure during lifting, carrying, servicing, or transport and can reduce power use while the modules are not needed.
