Abstract
This disclosure presents a modification to the iSerialNumber field in the USB Device Descriptor to include additional configuration information that manufacturing can use. Printer configuration frequently requires devices to be fully booted up for the manufacturing software to query the configuration. This approach improves the manufacturing process by providing the needed device configuration at USB device enumeration time. The manufacturing software can then take the appropriate actions without the need to wait for fully boot up.
