Abstract

The present technical disclosure relates to electrical penetration assembly for a pressure vessel as well as to a corresponding method for preventing condensation in an electrical penetration assembly mounted in a pressure vessel containing a gaseous environment, the method comprising:

- providing an electrical penetration assembly comprising at least one electrically conductive conductor, at least one, preferably metallic, mounting structure, and at least one electrically insulating body surrounding at least a portion of the electrically conductive conductor, wherein the mounting structure and the electrically insulating body define at least one thermally constrained region around the electrically conductive conductor having an axial height (H);

- applying an electrical current to the electrically conductive conductor to generate heat by ohmic dissipation;

- limiting radial heat dissipation from the electrically conductive conductor within the thermally constrained region; and

- retaining the heat within the thermally constrained region such that a local temperature of the electrically conductive conductor at least one location where the electrically conductive conductor exits the thermally constrained region toward the gaseous environment is maintained above a dew point of the gaseous environment.
