Abstract
The present technical disclosure relates to a plant and to a corresponding process for the conversion of a feedstock comprising methane and/or other hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide into methanol. The plant and process integrate an electrically heated reforming reactor within a methanol synthesis loop. The electrically heated reforming reactor is configured to discharge the syngas stream at a pressure equal to or higher than an operating pressure of the methanol synthesis reactor, and the main syngas flow path is free of an intermediate synthesis-gas compressor configured to raise the syngas stream to the operating pressure of the methanol synthesis reactor.
