Abstract

Many vendors expose per-user consumption in a web console but provide no programmatic metering endpoint, or gate that endpoint behind an enterprise agreement that a small operator does not hold. This disclosure describes a durable, low-friction mechanism for turning such API-less consumption into a first-class metric time series. A designated human periodically screenshots each monitored entity's vendor-console usage page and forwards it, one message per entity, into a shared mailbox — placing the entity's identity in the message subject. A scheduled ingester (1) searches the mailbox for the designated sender through a standard mail API, (2) admits only subjects matching an entity-key grammar while rejecting reply/forward/notification noise, (3) reduces the candidate set to the latest message per entity, (4) extracts the attached screenshot's figures with a vision-language model (VLM) constrained to a strict JSON schema, and (5) performs an idempotent upsert keyed on (snapshotdate, entity) while retaining the raw extraction for audit. The result is a seatutilizationdaily time series consumed by downstream pacing and cooldown logic. This document establishes enabling public prior art over that end-to-end mechanism and its material variations. Empirically tuned constants are withheld as trade secrets and marked [WITHHELD — trade secret]; their absence does not impair enablement, because any competent implementer can re-derive equivalents.
