Abstract

In online shopping, autonomous agents can find items much faster than a person can confirm a purchase. However, simply letting these bots hold items can lead to "denial-of-inventory" attacks where bad actors lock up all the stock. This system uses a reputation score to manage these temporary holds. An agent's eligibility to reserve an item, such as through a cryptographic lease, depends on its history. The score is updated based on whether the agent actually completes its purchases or just lets reservations expire. By linking access to proven reliability, this approach helps stop malicious bots while still allowing helpful shopping agents to work efficiently.
