Abstract
A system for an industrial plant, such as a drilling rig, in which an independent safety controller and safety relay, governed by a manually actuated, network-isolated operating device, isolate a critical valve from the connected control system. This prevents unauthorised or remote change of essential functions such as heave compensation and riser tensioning, including via cyber-attack.
