Abstract
When a user equipment (UE), such as a smartphone or wearable device, receives a UE route selection policy (URSP) update from a mobile network during an active service, service interruption can occur. A context-aware framework can manage such updates to help maintain service continuity. The framework may incorporate decision-making logic to dynamically select a handling method based on factors like the active service type, network capabilities, and the availability of alternative connections. Possible handling methods can include delaying the update, performing a make-before-break session handover, or offloading the service to an alternative network, for example, a wireless local area network. This approach may reduce the likelihood of dropped calls and data interruptions during URSP updates.
