Abstract

Disclosed herein is a shared access token system and method to enable primary account holders to request and share a shared access token with a recipient. The disclosed system and method provide a secure means to share primary account access, via the shared access token, without a physical card and without directly sharing primary account credentials. Once a request is initiated, the recipient provides authentication, the service provider provisions the shared access token associated with the primary account, the service provider sends the shared access token to a recipient communication device, the service provider activates the shared access token on the recipient communication device, and the recipient receives an invitation to instantly provision a token to their third-party wallet, thereby eliminating delays and security risks associated with conventional supplementary card issuance.
