The present invention relates to process for the preparation of 3-(5H-dibenzo[a,d] cyclohepten-5­ylidene)-N,N-dimethyl-1-propanamine hydrochloride which is referred to as Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride and is represented by the following structural formula-1.
