Abstract
Proposed herein is an optical-module connector that integrates a discharge gate that provides a controlled discharge path during module insertion and removal, safely releasing residual charge stored in alternating-current (AC) coupling capacitors and power-decoupling capacitors. The connector also incorporates a shielding gasket that covers the rear opening of the optical module to reduce electromagnetic-interference (EMI) leakage. Perimeter ground pins are added and interleaved with cage ground pins to reduce gaps between pins and further improve shielding effectiveness.
