Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a latching mechanism for a module, such as a networking hardware module. The proposed bottomed-out connector mechanism ensures a constant force is maintained to fully mate the connector, even in the presence of various tolerance stack-ups, resulting in outstanding signal integrity and performance. Compatible with any standard ejector featuring a locking mechanism, this disclosure offers versatility and ease of integration into existing systems. It also provides flexibility by allowing the mating force to be adjusted according to specific requirements through a simple spring change, enhancing usability across diverse applications. Throughout its lifetime, the mechanism ensures consistently reliable mating force, supporting long-term performance and reliability. Additionally, by eliminating gaps between mating connectors, it prevents dust accumulation, even in harsh environments, thereby improving durability and longevity. Furthermore, the mechanism safeguards against accidental disconnection due to shock and vibrations, ensuring a secure and uninterrupted connection under dynamic operating conditions.
