Abstract
Physical world searches have significant friction. To initiate image-driven searches on a smartphone or a wearable device such as a smartwatch, a user needs to perform multiple actions, which increases the time taken and complexity of conducting search for physical objects or places. This disclosure describes techniques that enable users to initiate a search in the physical world using hand gestures while wearing a wearable device such as a smartwatch. Gestures are used to identify the subject of a query and obtain user confirmation of search intent. The search results are delivered on the wearable device and/or on other devices such as a paired smartphone or another device.
