Abstract
Optimum lubrication in various operating conditions is crucial for achieving high efficiency and reliable performance in electric powertrains. The current trend of having single cooling circuit for motor and gearbox poses challenges in proper oil draining of the motor oil back to the gearbox oil sump. The proposed solution discloses a second gear stage in the gearbox with axial blades that creates negative pressure close to the motor oil outlet drain channel supporting oil flow from the motor. This improves efficiency and significantly lower losses in wider range of operating conditions.
