Abstract
Extendable battery enclosures may enable a commercial truck to not only swap the batteries/enclosures, but also to add more battery enclosures based on customer requirements and wheelbase limitations. Using an aluminum extendable battery structure, a commercial truck may house more battery capacity for higher range with adding minimal weight to the overall truck weight when compared to using steel battery structures. This may be relevant to payload and gross vehicle weight rating limitations applicable to commercial trucks.
