Abstract
Quick response (QR) codes enable customers to easily identify their digital payment identifier of a merchant to initiate a payment. A merchant may display multiple different QR codes associated with different merchant service providers. The presence of multiple QR codes that lead to different payment apps may prevent the user from making a payment using their preferred payment method, e.g., that provides rewards or other benefits. Receiving payments via multiple service providers can also prevent a merchant from receiving merchant benefits being offered by particular payment service providers. This disclosure introduces techniques that recognize that a QR code associated with a merchant and a particular payment app has been scanned by a user, determine that the merchant has additional payment accounts associated with other payment apps that are available to users, and generate and display a dynamic prompt enabling the user to choose a particular payment app to make the payment.
