Abstract
An audio system for increasing comprehension through playback of speech. The audio system (e.g., as integrated into a headset) includes a microphone, a speaker, and a controller. The microphone captures speech from a sound source in a local area of the audio system. The controller identifies speech characteristics (e.g., English spoken with a Southern Accent) of the captured speech. The controller uses a model to modify the captured speech to match the speech characteristics of a user (e.g., English spoken w/ a Boston accent) of the audio system. The audio system then plays back the modified speech to the user.
