The invention relates to a range hood with an illumination control. The range hood comprises two light sources that include High Color Rendering Index (CRI) LEDs and that electrically connect to a driver unit configured to regulate the power output for each light source independently. Additionally, either a hood UI or a mobile device is enabled to select a preferred lighting setting performed from the range hood. Furthermore, a True Tone function set in the range hood is configured to identify an ambient light condition and to generate an appropriate illumination suggestion. Accordingly, by adjusting the intensity-current levels of the different light sources, the range hood provides a controlled color temperature of the light perceived by a user, thereby generating an adjusted lighting condition that provides: a more attractive visual appearance of a foodstuff; better visibility of a cooking area; well-being by visual comfort; and confidence to a user while performing cooking activities.
